JOG (Jobs for Ohio's Graduates) Appalachian Ascent is a grant-funded initiative that focuses on improving workforce development in Columbiana, Mahoning, and Trumbull Counties. The JOG Appalachian Ascent Initiative is dedicated to promoting economic mobility and addressing historical inequities in marginalized communities like the Mahoning Valley. By focusing on high-demand sectors such as manufacturing and healthcare, the initiative aims to create family-sustaining jobs that offer stable, predictable wages of at least $15 per hour, aligning with the Good Jobs Principles. Free Services for Participants (Ages 18+)JOG provides comprehensive support to participants through skill assessments, barrier removal (including transportation assistance), and customized training programs designed to enhance employability.

What We Can Provide:

Employer Connections
Participants gain access to a network of growing business partnerships in the Mahoning Valley. While job placement is not guaranteed, participants have the opportunity for their resumes to be reviewed and considered for interviews with potential employers.

Two-Week Bootcamps
JOG offers intensive, no-cost bootcamps that equip participants with the skills needed for careers in manufacturing and healthcare. These daily sessions also focus on developing soft skills, conducting mock interviews, and building strong resumes to enhance job readiness.

Training & Mentorship
To strengthen job placement and long-term success, JOG provides additional soft skills and technical training, ensuring participants are well-prepared for their careers.

Certifications
JOG facilitates industry-recognized certifications, including the CMFGA certification and ToolingU certificates for those who complete the Manufacturing Boot Camp.

Ongoing Support
To improve job retention and long-term career success, JOG offers one year of post-placement support. Participants receive regular follow-ups at six and twelve months, with ongoing monthly check-ins and tailored assistance as needed.

Through these initiatives, JOG Appalachian Ascent empowers individuals to secure sustainable employment, fostering economic growth and equity in the Mahoning Valley!
