Today, the Clermont County General Health District – known as Clermont County Public Health has a five-member board. Clermont County Public Health employs approximately 50 staff members divided into five divisions and is led by the Health Commissioner. The Administration Division is responsible for:Writing grants, paying bills, creating and maintaining the budgetIssuing birth certificatesCommunicating with the publicProviding information technology supportBeing prepared to help the community during public health emergenciesThe Environmental Health Division protects your health by:Inspecting restaurants to make sure the food they make is safe to eatTesting the water in public swimming poolsMaking sure schools and mobile home parks are safeFollowing up when an animal bites a person to make sure the animal does not have rabiesThe Nursing Division protects your health by:Giving flu shots and other vaccinesKeeping track of certain illnessesEducating people about drug preventionGiving nutrition and breastfeeding advice to pregnant womenProviding healthy food, nutrition, and breastfeeding advice to pregnant women and children through the WIC programThe Plumbing Division protects your health by:Checking new water and sewer lines to make sure they are put in properlyMaking sure plumbers follow the rules when they replace or put in new plumbingThe Water and Waste Division protects your health by:Checking more than 20,000 septic systems in the county to make sure they workFollowing up on complaints about health hazardsTesting drinking water from wells or cisternsTesting water at public swimming areas in local lakes and rivers
